Why prepare 30 days ahead
Systematic preparation reduces stress 5×: you don't lose items, don't pay for extra idle hours, don't forget about utilities.
30 days before
- Inventory by rooms
- Get quotes from 3-5 carriers
- Decide: DIY or with movers
- Order packing materials
- Notify landlord
2 weeks before
- Sign contract. Confirm date and time
- Sort items: sell (OLX, 999.md), discard, keep
- Notify utilities for moving day
- Mail forwarding
- Documents in a folder
7 days before
- Pack everything except daily-use
- Label boxes: "Kitchen. Fragile!", "Bedroom. Clothes"
- Defrost fridge
- Pack "essentials box"
- Arrange parking at both addresses
Moving day
- Valuables and documents in one bag (always with you)
- Greet carrier, show the flat
- Sign acceptance act
- Photo vehicle before/after loading
- Sign delivery act only after full unload
After moving
- Unpack the essentials box first
- Within 7 days register at new address (if required)
- Connect utilities
- Leave a review for the carrier
